As an extension of the children’s recent interest in Arctic animals, and because it has been so cold recently, Marlene thought the children would like to make some penguins.
They first had to push fluff into the bottle to create the white fluffy fur which strengthened the children’s fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination. It was fantastic to see the determination of the younger children to keep trying with wonderful encouragement and demonstrations from the older children. Throughout the experience, we discussed penguins, where they live and what they look like. With the help of the iPad and the internet we could see how many different types of penguins there are in the world and how different they are just like us!
Once all fluffed up the children could decorate their penguin to make them as individual as they are – great work everyone!
